At Leopard’s Lair we extend a warm welcome to families and offer a relaxing, fun, child-friendly environment and a chance to meet new friends.
Our cottage is set at the heart of an active
cattle and maize farm and is ideal for families to enjoy the outdoors
together. The typical farmyard is a thrill for the children, with
lambs and calves to feed, goats to stroke, ostriches to admire,
eggs to gather and many more general farming activities to get involved
in.
The thing that is always amazing about being on a farm is the sound of silence. You realise something is different – the constant hum of city life is gone and the peace and quiet is something you can really feel. That’s when you notice other, more calming sounds – the hens and their little chicks cheep-cheeping around the garden, the goats and sheep, and the many different calls from the birds lining the branches of the trees.
Conveniently located between Johannesburg and Durban, only 10km off the N3, Estcourt South off-ramp, the farm is in the malaria-free KZN
Midlands, renowned for its unspoilt beauty, tranquillity and hospitality.
We offer you a comfortable and homely base from which to explore the many attractions of the area, but you can of course come here and do absolutely nothing. We don’t mind! There are ample opportunities for hiking, biking, birding, painting, photography and farm tracks to explore. The area is crime-free and the roads are safe. Or simply relax with the family in the beautiful, child-friendly gardens, alive with birds.
Bird life is abundant and varied, with species such as Blue Crane
breeding on the farm.
Our thatched, self-catering, cottage is spacious and sleeps 6. It is clean, cosy and warm with the added attraction of an open fire and a private lapa. Round off the day with a braai, as the sun sets over the picturesque
Lowlands valley. Just imagine the peace and tranquillity, with a log fire and a night full of stars…..
We have enjoyed having visitors from all over the world, and look forward to meeting you at Leopard’s Lair.
